Joseph Rozewski, artist, bronze sculpture, "in dignity and grace"
The grandson of a steel worker from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and the son of a cancer survivor, artist Joseph Rozewski fuses family history with formal training to create bronze works such as “Beauty Hurts,” this year’s “Steps to the Cure” limited edition bronze sculpture. With a portion of all “Beauty Hurts” sales going to support Cancer Research, Rozewski celebrates the strength of those whose lives are touched by illness, but whose spirits emerge stronger than ever. A graduate of The New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, Rozewski lives with his family in Portland, Oregon, where he casts sculpture and trains emerging artists to bring their convictions and visions to art. He also recognizes the ability of art to help save lives and improve the world at large. This event and the money raised through the vehicle of art is a fascinating and powerful method to find the cure.
