designer's statement

I attended Maryland Institute College of Art for two years, with a major in Fiber and concentration in Experimental Fashion. I am currently in the process of transferring to Towson University, where I will major in Sociology-Anthropology with a focus in general anthropology or archaeology. My interest in other cultures has always caused me to confront and often hybridize typical Western silhouettes. I am also influenced by many alternative subcultures, but one of my main aims is flexibility and the ability to create things that everyone can appreciate regardless of what walk of life they are part of. From a technical aspect, I generally favor solids over prints, and form-fitting garments over draped. I prefer not to avoid things I am not exactly sure how to execute; challenging myself is very important to me in every area of my life.
