designer's statement
Maryland native, Christina Kaputsos is Lead Artist & Designer of Tyto Studio. She is an honors graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art with a BFA in Illustration. Christina is a multi-medium artist.
She works in a wide array of mediums, from traditional illustration to sculpture and paper garments.
Her artwork combines her love of eclectic folk legend & lore, foreign cultures, pattern, animals and all things whimsy. For the past five years, Christina's work has been featured in various galleries. She has designed notable fashions for the acclaimed "Steps to the Cure-Breast Cancer Benefit Fashion Show" for the past three years. She was commissioned to apply her creative talents for University of Maryland's Fall Fest, as has made significant artistic contributions to other cause and non-profit events. Most recently, Christina assisted in the reconstruction of puppets for the hit Broadway production: "The Pee-Wee Herman Show". Based in Ellicott City Maryland, Christina's passion is creating truly break-through visuals.
