designer's statement

Self image and attraction are two elements that can control the way a person dresses. As a maker I am solely responsible for clearly conveying the look the wearer desires through function, fit and style. Simultaneously, I'm sharing my own ideas, be it vintage designs, children's wear or or theater costume inspired. Be creating custom prints and surface manipulations I am able to individualize every aspect of a garment. Through specifying the visual or functional utilities of a garment, I am able to create fashion concepts, which orginate from the fundementals of costume.

Graduating from Maryland Institute College of Art in spring of 2008, Jillian Coratti now works and resides in Long Island, New York. Aspiring to create a line of her own she works as a costumer at Long Island's Broadhollow Theater, constructs custom projects, halloween costumes and sells her clothing and acessories at local boutiques. Jillian approaches fashion from an unconventional perspective, believing in the pure fun of dressing up. She lets love rein over her life, appreciating her many inspiring friends and her supportive family.
