designer's statement

I am an Illustration major at MICA. I construct all my garments out of paper and it is pieced together with hot glue. Everything is paper, tissue paper, toilet paper, newspaper etc. I don't use any fabric what so ever. Knowing that my pieces are made out of these materials is very important to me. I believe in going green and so all my designs use materials that return to the earth. I love turning ordinary things into not only a garment, but a work of art. I thrive on different cultures and love how the tribal peoples glorify women as beautiful, strong, intelligent, nurturing leaders. I love to weave stories through my clothes, capture the pride of the woman spirit and hope to share the message that every woman is beautiful.
