Steps to the Cure is a truly local event, driven by the specific needs of the Maryland breast cancer patient, and visualized by the surrounding community of artists, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists culled together by The Larry and Lori Lickstein Foundation.
The Foundation -- started by a local plastic surgeon and his wife -- hopes you are intrigued by this vision of a provacative and imaginative event, and excited by our pledge that this event will be different! Embrace the Steps to the Cure by becoming a sponsor or guest, and we look forward to seeing you in October, whether in high tops or heels.
Guests are encouraged to don their black tie and most creative footwear.
on the runway | Breast cancer survivors will claim the catwalk, showcasing unique fashions created specially for them by notable professional designers and hand-selected designers from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Highlights include a cutting edge new design by Christian Siriano and a finale by designer Carmen Marc Valvo. Dazzling accents will be courtesy of Radcliffe Jewelers.
on the mic | Returning to Steps to the Cure, Maryland native, Christian Siriano, winner of Bravo TV's Project Runway, will be the emcee of the evening runway event. Fierce! Freewheeling, shoe-worshiping, downtown New York City cartoonist, and best selling author of the hilarious, sometimes in-your-face graphic novel, Cancer Vixen, Marisa Acocella Marchetto will be the presenter of the event.
on the palate | A unique selection of inspired cocktails, fabulous appetizers, and an artful dining experience catered by Baltimore Country Club's premier chef.
on the go | Guests will return home with an original bag brimming with high end schwag and goodies to pamper all the senses.
on the scene | VIP guests will enjoy an exclusive cocktail hour with a live performance, and private time with our celebrity guests, Christian Siriano, and Marisa Acocella Marchetto. There will also be exclusive access to other parts of the country club, and special gifts in your schwag bag.
