I am grateful that it has been over twenty-six years since I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Perhaps now I can almost consider myself a "survivor". I am grateful that I survived the ordeal of surgery and chemo. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to help other women through this experience by being a "Reach to Recovery Volunteer". I am grateful that I have helped to raise funds to fight this dreaded disease by being a president and long-time member of Mildred Mindell Cancer Foundation. I am grateful that I have seen my children grow up and the arrival of grandchildren. I am grateful for lots of good luck and wonderful doctors such as Dr. Martin Abeloff and Dr. Neil Friedman. Hopefully, in the not-too-distant future, I will also be grateful for living long enough to see the cure.
