Ginger South

When I was asked to write a bio, my first thought was, “Oh boy. How am I supposed to write about myself?! Is there any other way to do this?” So I asked a friend at work to write it for me. Here is what she has put together:

For the majority of time I have worked with and gotten to know Virginia, through The Baltimore Sun, she has been battling breast cancer. You would think that this paints a picture of her in my mind, defines her to me, or means I’ve been unfortunate to have to witness some of her more difficult moments in life, but in fact, it couldn’t be more the opposite.

Not once have I seen her fall pray to self-pity. Not once have I heard her say, “Why me?” Come to think of it, not once have I seen her in any form other than optimistic, cheerful and spirited.

I mean, there were a few minor mentions of a little itch here, or a radiation-type sunburn elsewhere, but I only know this much because I once asked her if she had anything for a bad bug bite. (she sure does know the skinny on skin care)
Mostly, when I think of Ginger, I think of her lust for life, her curiosity, her good judgment, her quick wit, and her strong character.
