Leslie Topus
I am the mother of three beautiful children and grandmother to Talia Benny, now 3 months old. I am a teacher, a mother, a daughter, a sister, and a breast cancer survivor, having been diagnosed in 2000. I am also a Hodgkins lymphoma survivor, first diagnosed in 1993.
A resident of Columbia Maryland, I have been teaching for 37 years (I can't believe it myself!) and have taught in the Howard County school system for 24 years. So, if I don't know you, I may know your children. My passion is working with youngsters, and I have taught at Temple Isaiah in Fulton, Maryland, for as long as my memory serves me.
I am honored to be participating in Steps to the Cure. So many people helped me during my illnesses, recoveries, and survival that it gives me joy to be able to give back. Whoever would have thought that a 4'10" woman would strut the runway- exciting! To my sisters suffering, living, and to those of you helping, we can beat this. In Hebrew, "Hazak-Hazak" means " from Strength to Strength"... I give you mine!
