Holly Renew is a 50 year old student studying to be an X-ray Technologist. She was diagnosed with
her first breast cancer just two months into her intensive school program as a follow up study to her
regular mammogram. Holly considers herself to be very lucky that her first cancer was caught in such
an early stage and that her second cancer was diagnosed as a result of a follow up MRI after her first
lumpectomy. Since that time, Holly has had a second lumpectomy and radiation therapy, all while
maintaining her school and clinical schedules. She credits her husband, Tim, her family and friends
and the wonderful staff at the Breast Center at St. Joseph Medical Center for all the love, support,
accommodation and sacrifice during her "journeys" over the past two years. Currently, Holly is looking
forward to graduation in May and a future career in Mammography.
Holly hopes that her story will inspire others to make and keep their wellness appointments and
remember early detection is crucial.
