Barbara Tucker

When I was first diagnosed with breast cancer, my sister in law, told me that it was one of the best things that could happen to me. I could not imagine what she meant. She had been a breast cancer survivor for ten years at that point. She was able to walk me through different aspects of many situations and to introduce me to people who had gone through similar surgeries. It took me several years to realize what she meant. I do look at everything differently since then, everyday is a treasure. I am sure there is an easier way to learn to value life but having cancer did it for me. I am now retired from working at Saks Fifth Avenue for twenty years. I spend one day a week watching my grandson, Felix, in Philadelphia and other days quilting. I am very fortunate to have had the support of my loving family, Ed, Matthew, and Lauren. I have been cancer free for twelve years.
